In 1996, Dolly launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee. Her vision was simple and powerful: foster a love of reading by gifting preschool children and their families a high-quality, age-appropriate book each month. In 2000, the program opened nationwide, empowering communities to champion it locally. What began with a few dozen books now delivers more than 3 million books each month across the United States, helping families build home libraries, establish reading routines, and encourage early literacy. Now, in 2026, on 9/25, we are asking local businesses to help reopen Imagination Library of Boulder County.
